The Problem:
Room Noises, a beloved album by sibling rock band Eisley, encapsulates 2005 to the fullest with its dreamy vocals and nostalgic lyrics. The original design, however, with its use of multiple display fonts and incohesive color choices, does not have a similar appeal. Without a sense of cohesion, there is nowhere for the brand to go; their merchandise has to rely on very few assets, making expansion difficult.
The Solution:
Imagery, such as buttons, balloons, and sheep, is used to connect to the theme of youth woven throughout their lyrics. The pixelation treatment on the images has both a functional and conceptual purpose. The album and its music videos, being two decades old, have only been uploaded in a low resolution and cannot be used for promotional material without editing. By pixelating the screencaps, we can evoke the haziness of memories while also extending their use.
This pixelation can be widely applied on future imagery, creating a signature look that can be immediately recognized as Eisley. The thin and expanded font is reminiscent of early 2000s futurism. The feeling is simultaneously both nostalgic and modern, working to represent the time period of the album’s release and the current zeitgeist.
